Don’t get me wrong, you burn some fat during the cardio workout itself, but as soon as you stop, your metabolism quickly reverts back to the original level. In addition, you very quickly become conditioned to low intensity cardio meaning that you get very little benefit from this exercise. Is this the best way to lose body fat?

You should eat 5-6 meals over the course of a day to keep your metabolism elevated. Every meal should include complex carbohydrates, lean protein and a healthy fat. Remember to stock up on plenty of fruit and vegetables also. By eating every couple of hours your body will receive a constant source of nutrients and energy and you won’t ever feel hungry.

Fat Loss Fact Number 2:

If you increase your muscle mass you will increase your metabolism at rest. Did that make you take note? Quite simply that means that if you create muscle you will burn more calories whilst doing nothing. To create new muscle mass you need to do some form of resistance training. You can either use weights (barbells, dumbbells, etc) or use your own bodyweight as resistance. You just need to find a great program that overloads your muscles to help them grow.

High intensity training increases your resting metabolism for up to 48 hours. See the difference between this and Fat Loss Myth Number 3? High intensity resistance training and high intensity interval training both cause fat loss. There are numerous great on-line fat loss and fitness programs that promote this type of training. In addition to supporting fat loss, high intensity workouts can be completed in shorter times versus your typical cardio sessions.

Need to know the best way to lose body fat? Let’s start with my story.

I had become despondent with my weight, the way I looked and my self-confidence. My relationships with my friends and family were also affected

To come out on ‘the other side’, not only 40lbs lighter, but with renewed energy and self-belief was a life changing event.

Now what I am going to share with you is no guarantee. I just don’t know if you are going to take massive action and follow through with consistency. That is in your hands, not mine.

My role is to provide you with the support and the strategies that I followed to create my lean body – possibly it’s the best way to lose body fat.

Here are 5 key steps that you should follow if you are confused about fat loss, despondent about the way you look and struggling for consistency in your daily battle to burn fat fast:

1. You must have absolute certainty that you need to change. If you don’t have absolute certainty, you won’t follow through. It can’t be a half-baked idea, “oh, it’s about time I lost some weight”. It will just not be sufficent. It needs to be more committed and explicit than that. You need to be 110% sure – and nothing less.

2. You need goals and a plan to achieve them – failing to plan is planning to fail. You need to understand where you are going. You need to find out the the best way to lose body fat. How much weight do you want to lose? Do you have a deadline by when you want to lose it? Your goals need to be realistic but also have stretch applied to them. If you need to eliminate a huge amount of fat then you will need to break your long term goal into smaller goals. These goals will be more achievable and demonstrate that you are making progress.

3. Here’s a great quote – “Success is a few simple disciplines practised every day”. This is a great quote from the late and great Jim Rohn. You need to create good habits (eating right and exercising regularly) and this requires consistency applied every day. Without consistency, you will fail – you will quickly go back to the way you were. Now it doesn’t take me to tell you that this may not be the best way to lose body fat. Creating good habits takes time. Don’t expect overnight success. There may be times where you fall off the wagon. The key is not to despair. Understand what you are trying to achieve and why – regroup, refocus and get back to applying consistency to your daily routine.

4. The best way to burn fat fast is to eat healthy foods. Eating healthily should mean eating balanced meals with complex carbohydrates, lean protein and healthy fats. Also, eat plenty of vegetables and fruit. Portion sizes should be kept to small sizes and eat 5-6 meals per day. Don’t even consider restricting your calories – this is counter-productive. Starvation or restrictive diets pull your metabolism down to standstill causing your body to store fat. Eating small portions often will help keep your metabolism elevated – ideal for fat burning.

5. Isn’t it time you got active may be 3-4 times every week? I don’t mean stepping on a treadmill and plodding along at low intensity for 30 minutes. That simply is not the best way to lose body fat. I am strong advocate of high intensity training whether it is resistance training or interval training. Allow me to explain what I mean. High intensity exercise keeps your workouts to less than 30 minutes, but more importantly keeps your metabolism elevated for up to 48 hours. Resistance training also creates muscle. This not only makes you look great, but also raises your metabolism at rest. The bottom line is that more muscle means more calories burned whilst resting. It’s the best way to lose body fat.

So there it is – the best way to lose body fat in 5 steps. Now it’s your turn. You have a decision to make. Are you committed to change or are you going to do the same things as you have always done?

The decision in itself is an easy one.

It’s what you do next that is may be a little more intimidating.

But it shouldn’t be. There is minimal sacrifice or pain associated with undertaking a fat loss regime. In fact may be you should turn away from the what you are ‘giving up’ or sacrificing to what you are moving towards.
